From unfamiliar to familiar, from unreachable to close by, what new changes have taken place in the development of artificial intelligence? On August 26, the 2019 China International Intelligent Industry Expo was held in Chongqing. At the big data intelligence summit, guests in the field of intelligent technology such as Gong Ke, Ma Yun, Ma Huateng and Li Yanhong expressed their latest views on intelligence and its future development.
Intelligent industry has become a strategic new industry leading the future. According to preliminary statistics, the scale of artificial intelligence-related industries may have exceeded 500 billion yuan in 2018 and is becoming an important new economic growth point.
"Artificial intelligence no longer pays attention to cool, but pays attention to solid promotion and implementation." Robin Li, the founder, chairman and CEO of Baidu, talked about his new observations on the development of artificial intelligence in this speech after talking about the three major misunderstandings of the outside world about artificial intelligence in his speech at the Smart Expo last year.
Li Yanhong said that in the past, people focused on cool things such as artificial intelligence defeating the world Go champion and how long unmanned driving has been running, but now they focus on the convenience of life, the improvement of work efficiency, and whether it is safe and practical. In the past, we paid attention to the number of papers published and patent applications of artificial intelligence in China, but today we pay more attention to the discourse power in the overall development framework of artificial intelligence. "In the past year, artificial intelligence has gone from being a cool effect to a social consensus and a national strategy. What we have to do is to solidly promote the penetration of artificial intelligence in various industrial fields, to help various fields and industries improve efficiency and improve people's feelings." Regarding how to solidly promote the implementation of artificial intelligence, Robin Li mentioned three suggestions: first, we must pay attention to safety and efficiency; second, we hope to speed up the construction of infrastructure; third, we must make full use of open source and open platforms.
"We will actively participate in the joint construction of the 'global science and technology community' through internal and external open source code." Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent, said in his speech that climbing the "Everest" of technology and industry often relies on the "technology community" and "global industrial ecology". He hopes to invest more efforts in the field of scientific research and incorporate "science and technology for good" into the company's new mission and vision. In terms of internal and external open source, they have released 82 open source projects.
Regarding industrial development, Ma Huateng said that the main arena of industrial competition is gradually changing from "singles" PK to "doubles" competition. The competition of the physical industry is no longer a single fight, the various physical industries are combining with the information industry to form a new partner to participate in the competition. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has long proposed the "integration of industrialization and industrialization", and he believes that the industrial Internet is an important carrier and breakthrough of the "integration of industrialization and industrialization. For example, in the automotive industry, the application of 5G technology, the landing of artificial intelligence, the replacement of new energy, and the governance of smart cities are promoting cross-border collaboration, especially the integration and innovation of the information industry and the automotive industry, and building a new Internet of Vehicles ecology.
Wang Chuanfu, chairman and President of BYD Co., Ltd., said that in the process of automobile heavy industry reform, electrification is only the first half, and intelligence is the second half, which is a real big change. The traditional car is a mechanical car, just like an abacus. The abacus will never "hit" the Internet. Only by changing the machine into electric and the abacus into a calculator can the intelligent goal be truly realized.
"The age of intelligence should not and cannot make people unemployed, but let people do more valuable things." Ma Yun attended the meeting as co-chairman of the United Nations High-level Group on Digital Cooperation. He said that in the group, he and more than 20 experts from all over the world have been discussing what digital technology should bring to mankind. We have always believed that digital technology should make human development more inclusive, more sustainable and greener.
"In the past, we turned people into machines, and in the future machines will become people, but in the end people should be more like people, and machines should be more like machines." Ma Yun said that the intelligent world includes three elements: Internet, big data and cloud computing. The Internet is the production relationship, cloud computing is the productivity, and big data is the means of production. The future is made up of Internet big data and big computing, which are production relations, productivity and means of production. Intelligence is a tool to change the world, wisdom is to change the intelligent thinking, leading the future is not intelligent, but intelligent behind the human wisdom. Animals pay attention to instinct, machines pay attention to intelligence, human beings must adhere to their own wisdom.
"It is the vision of our federation to continuously develop and enrich intelligent applications, especially the application of artificial intelligence, increase its humanistic value, and achieve sustainable development." Gong Ke, president of the World Federation of Engineering organizations, said that in order to achieve this vision, intelligent technology, especially artificial intelligence, still faces serious technical and ethical challenges. To ensure that artificial intelligence benefits mankind and sustainable development, international cooperation is needed, not only in technology, but also in ethics, policies and regulations.
